“Going Home” by Margret Nutley is a wonderfully tender landscape, full of movement, memory and quiet emotional pull. It has the feeling of a place not simply observed, but remembered — the kind of view that lives inside someone long after they have left it.
The composition is led by the striking tree in the foreground, its bare branches spreading across the sky like a network of thoughts, roots, roads or family lines. There is something beautifully human in the way the branches twist and reach; they seem almost to search the landscape, framing the journey home rather than merely decorating it. The tree gives the painting character and personality, standing as both witness and guide.
Beyond it, the rolling green fields have a gentle pastoral warmth. The soft hills, curving path and distant hedgerows suggest familiarity — a landscape walked before, known by heart. About the Artists
Robert (Bob) Dennison is a professional artist and a long-standing educator who serves as the Head of Art at Dauntsey’s School, a co-educational independent boarding and day school in Wiltshire.
Professional Training: Bob trained and developed his style at the prestigious Bath Academy of Art. His teachers is essentially a staggering list of the mid-20th-century British modernist movement, a period when British painters and sculptors were redefining abstraction, landscape, and form after the Second World War.
Tony Nutley: A Photographer and Digital artist - Studied with his father, for the most part, self trained with a keen eye for detail and creating images that invite you to really look and reflect.
