The Tree of Life - V3 by Bob Dennison is a radiant, uplifting work that celebrates growth, vitality and renewal through an expressive language of colour and movement.
The first impression is one of warmth. Dennison fills the canvas with golden yellows, oranges and soft creams, creating a glowing atmosphere that feels almost sunlit from within. The painting does not simply depict a tree; it seems to suggest the life force of the tree — its energy, rhythm and quiet resilience.
The branching forms are delicate but purposeful. Fine darker lines trace their way across the composition, giving structure to the sweeping abstract shapes around them. The leaves appear to float, turn and open, as though caught in a gentle breeze. This gives the painting a lovely sense of movement, not dramatic or restless, but calm, organic and alive.
What is particularly successful is the balance between abstraction and recognition. We can clearly read the image as a tree, yet Dennison avoids literal description. Instead, he gives us the feeling of nature: light passing through leaves, the cyclical movement of seasons, and the quiet optimism of things growing upward.
The textured surface adds depth and tactility. Areas of thicker paint catch the eye and break up the brightness, giving the work a handmade, physical presence. The white highlights are especially effective, acting almost like flashes of spirit or illumination within the composition.
As a title, The Tree of Life - V3 fits beautifully. This is not a sombre or symbolic tree; it is generous, hopeful and full of emotional warmth. Dennison has created a piece that feels both decorative and meaningful — a painting that would bring light into a room, but also invite reflection on renewal, connection and the simple beauty of being alive.
